Sugbahan sa Dalan: A Walk Around Tuna Festival
GenSan was still recovering from the June 8 earthquake when Tuna Festival returned in 2026. According to Gensan Log's budget explainer, the city reduced the festival budget from around PHP 15 million to PHP 5 million. The roughly PHP 10 million difference was proposed for rice assistance through a supplemental budget, with the required budget process still to follow.
On September 5, the festival's last day, Sugbahan sa Dalan was still something to look forward to. People were gathering for the free grilled food at stalls set up by the local government. While waiting, Life of Gelosaurus and PakatPitik took their cameras for a walk around Plaza Heneral Santos. With so many people already there, they had plenty to photograph before anyone lined up for a meal.
Food on the way
Once the food service began, people fell in line for their share. He kept his camera busy, moving around the queues and photographing the activity at the stalls. The wait had turned into the part of Sugbahan sa Dalan everyone had come for: something fresh off the grill to eat.
A plate and a photograph
Food stayed in hand for some of the portraits. Groups leaned into the frame, and people waved from their seats as he photographed them. He enjoyed this part of walking around with a camera, getting to photograph people in the middle of enjoying their day.
He did get to eat some of the free food himself, too. Roaming around with his photographer friends was already a good reason to come, and sharing in the meal made it even better. Another GenSan Tuna Festival attended, with photographs to look back on and a day he was glad to have spent at the plaza.
