Inside Davao's Kadayawan Cultural Village
After the Sony Philippines workshop, Life of Gelosaurus joined Pakat Pitik for a visit to the Kadayawan Cultural Village at Ramon Magsaysay Park in Davao City. The paths were packed shoulder to shoulder, so they circled the park slowly and looked into each of the cultural houses.
The crowd made the visit feel busy from the start, but it also kept the evening moving. Every turn brought another room, another set of colors, or another performance worth stopping for.
Inside the cultural houses
Pakat Pitik's invitation made it possible to spend time inside the houses instead of only passing by the entrances. Some people performed dances, while others played instruments for visitors. The rooms gave the camera more to work with than a wide crowd scene: hands on gongs, patterned clothing, and faces caught between performances.
The rest of the evening
Some visitors asked for photographs. Others were photographed as they were, talking, waiting, watching, and moving through the village. Those candid moments became some of the favorite frames from the night.
The visit was a simple plan after the workshop, but it became one of the better ways to see Kadayawan in Davao City: by walking slowly, looking into the houses, and staying long enough for the smaller moments to appear.
