A First Funshoot with New Friends

Doug invited Life of Gelosaurus to join a group funshoot, and he said yes. It would be his first time doing one. He was nervous, but he had been wanting to put himself in that situation and see what he could learn.

He arrived at 8 in the morning. Doug and Kanz, who was hosting the shoot, were already waiting for the model. He had no idea what the concept was and resisted asking Kanz, mostly because he did not want to sound quite as excited as he felt. Then Princess arrived in a seifuku-inspired outfit. It was a concept he had wanted to photograph for a while, so the nerves had some competition.

Kanz took the lead, guiding Princess through poses with an ease Life of Gelosaurus admired. Doc Alfie joined partway through. They had met before at the Fujifilm Nationwide Photo and Video Walk, but this was his first funshoot with the group.

When Kanz offered the others a chance to direct, Life of Gelosaurus thought he might try. He had lines ready in his head. None of them came out. Doc Alfie took a turn instead, while Doug and Life of Gelosaurus kept making photographs from the side.

At South Bay

The group moved to South Bay, where Princess changed into another outfit. Kanz and Doc Alfie continued directing, and Doug and Life of Gelosaurus photographed from the sidelines. By then, he was happy just to keep shooting and pay attention to how the others worked.

He left wanting to do another funshoot. He had learned a lot, including how much he still wanted to practice speaking up and directing a model. For a first time, it was a very good day.
